Holly Jane Valentine (b. 1995) is a New York City based oil painter. She holds a BFA from the Fashion Institute of Technology. Her practice is rooted in Symbolist and Romantic traditions, drawing from esotericism, the self, and the visual poetry of her dreams and meditative states. Valentine's images are archetypal happenings, moving between figuration and allegory. Moments of transformation, dissolution, and surrender describe the liminal spaces she imagines in deeper states of consciousness. She works under the philosophy that the sublime holds the deepest truths, and that to see is a sacred act.
